Holly Academy: Curriculum Corner

Curriculum Corner

Holly Academy is chartered upon the belief that all children are unique individuals. Accordingly, our philosophy is to educate each child at his/her own learning rate, as determined by teachers and administration in cooperation with parents. We believe our focus on a student’s strengths and learning style increases a child’s self-esteem and leads to success. Students receive instruction in a manner that promotes a love of life-long learning. The staff teaches not only what to learn, but also how to learn.

Children have a tremendous capacity for learning at an early age. Holly Academy recognizes and fosters this ability, designing the curriculum to capture and encourage a passion for learning. Holly Academy begins a child’s formal instruction with an all-day developmentally-appropriate academic kindergarten.

Holly Academy’s education emphasizes a superior academic program. Each classroom maintains a belief in structure for the classroom setting. Beginning in Young 5’s, the classroom teacher is responsible for the basic disciplines of reading, writing, mathematics, spelling, and social studies. All teachers are certified as well as highly qualified.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)

Holly Academy’s Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is open to middle school students demonstrating academic excellence and exemplary citizenship. Those students who qualify will receive a letter by the end of February with directions on how to apply.

NJHS members assist in community service opportunities, demonstrating leadership within our school community and extending into our local and regional communities.

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.
